The Barricade: public library and anti-foodwaste kitchen

The Barricade is a volunteer-run public library and cooking crew with a focus on anarchism, anti food waste and leftist politics.
In our permanent collection, we have a variety of materials (books, journals, zines) on feminism, Marxism, decolonialism, environmentalism, veganism, squatting and DIY culture, including classic and contemporary texts in both English and Dutch. Membership and borrowing books is free.
Every Sunday evening we prepare a free meal that can be enjoyed in the ACU bar. Perfectly ripe and beautiful vegetables and fruits are coming from the dumpsters of Utrecht. Donations will be used for the kitchen or other political goals.
Here' a lil look into how you can interact with the library:

π Borrowing Books - Please write down the title of the books you're borrowing on the Pad.
ππ₯ Book Return Box - Return your books to the red box when you're done reading them or they've spent too much time closed in your home.
π Donations - Please only donate books you would want to read and a note with a short reason why. We do not need lots of doubles. But more recent books, especially in the caregories Queer, Mental Health, Direct-Action/DIY, & Decolonisation are especially welcome!
πβοΈ Reviews - If you've read a book and have a moment, please leave a review in our Reviews notebook, so we know whether to keep it, and others know to read it.
ππ Digital Catalogue - You can go librarycat.org/lib/thebarricade to see what books are available. We try to keep this up to date.
π§Ύ Magazines - We exclusively keep political, activist or anarchist magazines, feel free to take them or read them in the cafe.
ππ¨ Zineswap - Take and leave zines in the little file box on the second shelf. It's a culture, if you've enjoyed many zines, think about what you can make and contribute or print extra copies of your favorites to share!
βοΈπ¦ Spotlight - We highlight books here for you to try out, some of the librarians favorites! If you leave good reviews for books they might end up here too.
